Lacquered Glass

Lacquered Glass is made of the top quality clear float or ultra clear float glass, by depositing a highly durable and resistant lacquer onto the flat and smooth surface of the glass, then carefully baking it in the furnace which is constant temperature, permanently bonding the lacquer onto the glass. Lacquered Glass has all the features of the original float glass but also supplies wonderful opaque and colorful decorative applications.

A proprietary, state of art paint technology is used to manufacture and fabricate lacquered glasses in limitless color options using a heat-cured single-component aqua-based system. Sizes ranging from 12” x 12” to 84” x 144” are possible, with reproducible color consistency from the first piece to the last piece.

Colors

  • There are 40 brilliant shades of annealed and tempered lacquered glass available in our running production, but the color options are virtually unlimited
  • All RAL and NCS shades are possible using our computerized intermix color system. These customized RAL and NCS shades are available for a minimum quantity of only 100 square meters. These color options allow architects and specify maximum flexibility for their projects

Process

The lacquered glass-making process is unique. Lacquered glass is made the top quality clear float or ultra clear float glass, to achieve the perfect shade as you specify. We then clean each sheet of glass to mirror-quality specifications through our auto ”WASHING LINE”, which is the highest standard in the industry.

  • The custom-mixed color is applied to the second surface (the back) of the glass in a controlled, uniform thickness without any messy foreign particles. Due to our computerized color-mixing system, color results are accurate and repeatable, days, weeks, or years into the future. The color is also checked for accuracy with a state-of-the-art spectrometer
    • CraftArt Glass, heat cures the paint layer through carefully monitored coaters & ovens to allow the paint to cure strong, without becoming brittle. This is important for the fabrication step of cutting and edging because if the paint is too brittle, it will chip along a cut and leave a ragged edge. A little flexibility in the final product allows the cut to be clean. However, a coating that is too flexible can peel off, so there’s actual science in coating-to-glass technology that we take very seriously in achieving the fine balance
    • The color layer is protected with an extremely durable backing paint layer that not only protects the color layer from scratches during handling but also adds to the opacity of the color – so that no mastics or wall flaws show through the front of the installation. This two-coat process is unique to the industry and keeps the color safe from harm after it leaves our factory
    • The last step involves heat-curing both the color layer and the backing paint layer together. This creates a bond that makes the entire process final. CarftArt Glass cuts clean and remains stable throughout the life of the product. This final heat-curing step also burns off any remaining VOCs from the product so that outgassing at the final destination is eliminated. Starlac Glass Pvt Ltd continually tests products to ensure that the quality is to the standard we expect
    • Our single-component, heat-cured process is what separates our coatings from all the rest with an exceptionally high-quality, durable, and stable product

Durability

How Durable is Our Lacquered Glass?

Extensive testing on our lacquered glass verifies its durability and resistance to color fading by UV light, as well as chemicals, moisture, and humidity. Our lacquer coating also has excellent nonyellowing properties, color adhesion, resistance to corrosion, resilience to scratches during handling and installation, and overall durability.

Sustainability

Lacquered glass helps to maintain a clean and non-polluted environment. The manufacturing of glass of this variety complies with the strictest regulations relating to the control of emissions of Formaldehyde and other Volatile Organic Compounds, commonly known as VOCs.
